Loving Memory of Petey
At the Bridge February 4, 2003
Petey was a Sweetie. We rescued him from a Local Dog Pound. He was very thin when we rescued him and it appeared he had a rough life. We gave him our love and he gave us his in return. He like to be outdoors in the back yard and bark at all the passing dogs. He waited at the fence and barked when my wife or I came home. He was such a pleasant site and I will always remember him barking and running to the door to greet me. He always barked at me when I cut the grass and liked when I chased him. In October of 2002 we noticed a bump on his back. It was cancer and we had it removed. The Vet told us it was a Class "2" Tumor and his prognosis was "good."
In late November, Petey began having problems with his eye. We took him to an eye specialist who put him on
various medications. He then had to have another operation on his eye and we got the bad news on December 23, 2002. Petey had a secondary tumor in his body. It was very heartbreaking to watch the dog you love start to fade away. We tried our best to keep him "happy" and gave him all our love in his final days. Unfortunately Petey lost his battle with Cancer on February 4, 2003 and we helped him walk to the Rainbow Bridge. He left a "Big" hole in our hearts and we will always remember him in his "Peace" Collar. Petey was a "lover and not a fighter!"
Petey, you will always be loved and missed, we hope you are chasing that tennis ball, and having a good time with the rest of your "friends"

Loving Memory of Lucy
At The Bridge September 9, 2002
We rescued Lucy from a family when she was 9 years old. It seems that they had a 2nd child and she was no longer "Wanted." They were about to put her to sleep. Lucy had been a Celebrity, she made the front cover of a Fisher Price Toy Magazine. Her former owners were kind enough to give us a copy. During a Vet visit, the Vet said she had "Cancer!" I made her a promise that I would give her a "Pig Ear" a day for the rest of her life. She must have "Bribed" the Vet
because we were "Blessed" to have her for 5 more years. She was very demanding, especially when it came to her Pig Ear. Lucy started to develop medical problems in the Summer of 2002. She no longer would take her daily "Pig Ear" and that broke our hearts! On September 9, 2002 we assisted her to the Rainbow Bridge. She was just 2 weeks short of her 15th Birthday. It was devastating to lose "Our Celebrity" and she is greatly missed. I'm sure she is chewing a "Pig Ear" right now at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for us.

Emma Kumquat Martin
May 25, 1993 - January 2nd, 2003
Rochester, NY
Emma, beloved Basset Hound and best friend, died last night, January 2, 2003. Diagnosed about a month ago with bone cancer, she was happy
and relatively pain-free right to the end, and will be missed more than I can put into words.
It wasn't difficult to develop a crush on Emma, and it was certainly easy for her to develop one on you - particularly if
you were holding a slice of cheese that you might share. I pray that she has found her way
to Cheese Mountain, and is eating her way to the top while being pursued by all envious of whatever precious treasures she might have
acquired along the way.
She is terribly missed - there is a tremendous hole in our lives.
Goodbye little Em...
We Love You,

Loving Memory of Georgia
This morning we had to send our Dearest Georgia to the Rainbow Bridge. She was a sweet soul and will never, ever be forgotten by all of us left behind without her. Although Georgia was not a rescue hound, we had her since a pup of 8 weeks, she is what got us so interested and inspired with the Basset Rescue organization itself and she actually marched in a parade with other hounds a few years back for the rescue group and loved every minute of it!
We love you and miss you soooo much Georgie and know you are free with your wings, happily running around with Hannah and all the other Bassets! Good-bye for now.
Love, Mommy, Daddy, Aaron, Clinton, Kelly, Sam and Hershey. XX00

In Loving memory of Hannah
Adopted January 3, 2000 - August 31, 2002
This morning we had to send Hannah to the Rainbow Bridge after finding out yesterday she had a tumor near her spleen that was very
aggressive. She was the most soulful, kind soul we have ever met; never growled, never nipped, just gave love. She had
been put out of two homes during her life and we were lucky to adopt her and have her here with us for 2 1/2 years.
We love you dearest Hannah, fly free with all your dear friends!
Love, Jeff, Sharon and Aaron also Georgia (12 year old basset) the Guinea Pigs Sam Hershey and our Cats, Clinton and Kelly.
