Maggie's Story,
My name is Maggie and I came to live with new family and the rest of their
animals in November of 2005. In this story I will try to express my joy to
the people from ABC Basset Hound Rescue and the Mohawk Hudson Humane
Association that helped me find a wonderful home that I feel like I have
always been part of.
Carri LaCroix Pan, my foster mom took very good care of me while she had me
and I want to thank her for taking me in. Cyd at the Mohawk Hudson Humane
Association for calling ABC Basset Hound Rescue when you looked into my big
brown eyes and could see I had a lot of life left in me. It wasn’t my time
to go to Rainbow Bridge.
I was scared when I first met my new family since when we met they had two
really dig dogs with them. However, they were really nice to me!!!! So we
all went home together. There are so many new things at this place they have
cats, horses, pigs and I have never seen these things before so I wasn't
sure what to make of them, but I have gotten use to them. I still bark at
the horses all the time, though.
I have to say since I have been here it is just a great place to live. I
have a big yard to play in. I have my own bed in the house and lots of good
food to eat. I get plenty of attention. If I think I need more petting time
I just nudge one of the humans to let them know that I need attention. There
are times my owners call me and I just look at them like “Your talking to
me?? You must be mistaken since I am a Basset and I don't have to listen if
I don't want to!!” I love to play outside with the other dogs and just run
in the yard. Some nights when we get done with barn chores we all get in the
truck and go get coffee and treats for us since we don't drink coffee.
When company comes I bark to let them know that somebody is pulling in the
yard and then run up to see if they have biscuits in there pockets, because
some of them do. I'm going to be going to work with my grandma to visit the
residents while she is working. I will really like that since I will be
getting all the attention!! I have to say I am so happy to have such a great
family that was willing to take in an older dog that has had some medical
problems. I have to say I have heard them talking and they seem to take in
all the animals that nobody want.
Maggie
Hi, Maggie Mom here. I just want to thank everybody that had a part in
saving me from the shelter and giving me a chance at a great life.
Maggie has brought so much joy to the household with some of the things that
she does and how she stands her ground with the larger dogs. For her being
12 years old you would never know it since she keeps up with the other 2
dogs that are younger than her. She comes into this house just like she had
always lived here. Maggie has won herself into the hearts of all of our
friends that stop over to the house she greets everybody at the door with
the basset bark then is like just pet me and with some of them they always
have biscuits in there pockets.
Thank you from the whole Boerenko family |
