Yatzee:

Yatzee's previous life was nothing short of appalling, and as a result, he and five of his pals arrived to ABC in shockingly bad health. But Yatzee's temperament never wavered. He's one of the most charming dogs you'll meet! Despite the many sour experiences he's had with humans, he never lost faith in them. In fact, he LOVES people, and bonds very quickly. He's a very gentle and affectionate dog who gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home, as pays no mind to the 4 year old boy running circles around him.

Thanks to ABC, Yatzee's extensive list of medical issues are finally being addressed, and he is on the road to recovery. His foster mom has been working with him intensely, teaching him basic commands like "come", "sit" and "stay" (the poor guy was never taught these things). He's eager to learn, and is making great progress. Once he's medically out of the woods, he's going to be an absolute gem of a dog and an amazing companion for someone special! Could that someone be you?

11/1/12 *Update* Yatzee's health has improved dramatically over the past few months, but he is not quite out of the woods yet. It should be noted that Yatzee is a very social dog. He's what's known as a Velcro dog and will follow you around the house. When his human family leaves the house, he prefers to be in the company of other dogs so that he doesn't feel alone. He is very interested in cats, perhaps a little too much. He won't hurt cats, but he has a relentless fascination with them and tries to engage them in play. All of the cats he's encountered don't appreciate it, so it might be best to place him in a home without a large cat presence.

If you can't adopt or foster right now, you can still help a homeless basset in need by being a Virtual Foster Home.
