Max:
Max is a 3 year old neutered male basset. He and his sister originally came
to ABC and were adopted out at Christmas time last year. However, Max's adoption
was unsuccessful and he was returned to ABC. He was evaluated by an animal
behaviorist and passed his test with flying colors! He is sweet, playful and
knows basic commands. He loves his rawhide chews!
Since Max's last adoption was unsuccessful, and rather stressful, when he
is adopted out, we need to be doubly sure he goes to a forever home. He has had
lots of upheaval in his life and needs some permenance. He is a typical male
basset and has some anxiety behaviors, however they quickly disappear when he is
in a secure and loving environment. He is good with other dogs, loves kids and
adults of all kinds. He is fully vetted, and healthy. He is crate trained and
due to the transient nature of his past it is highly reccomended that this be
continued. Crate training created a safe place of security for him, as dogs are
den animals. This should never be used as a punishment. He responded well to the
squirt bottle method. He should also be walked using a harness, as with most
Bassets his nose rules his brain and if he wants to snuffle something...he will
do his best to get to it. He does well in the dogs park too. He had no behavior
issues in public. He likes to cuddle on the couch and seemed to enjoy the car
ride. This adorable boy deserves the best! Can you be his number one human?
