Mae:
Mae is a 1 year old red and white female who came to ABC with what is
believed to be her mother. (Lissie) She is medium sized (50lbs) and full of
energy. She has taken to training very well, with all the basic commands, but
she is still learning. She is crate trained, and housetrained. She does well
with other dogs, cats(although she does chase them, as obviously they are there
for her personal amusement) and children. She is still a puppy, so she would do
well in a home that is high energy, gets out a lot, and plays with her a lot.
She is healthy and full of life and sweetness, she just forgets to listen
sometimes! She is learning to self correct when she hears a command more than a
few times, so with a constant routine and exercise, she will go far! You will
need a harness when you walk her, because if she sees a squirrel...she is off
like a shot, but she otherwise does well on the leash. She likes to chew(what
puppy doesn't??) so rawhide is probably a good idea. Keep an eye on plastic
things as they seem to be her preference and the foster home has lost a few
remote controls. She has no problem having a bath or getting her nails clipped.
She would do best with a fenced yard where she can run and play, and a younger
companion dog would be a good idea.
