Bailey's Story,

Well, today was Bailey's 1st day home alone and it broke our hearts to leave her. John left last this morning and said Bailey thought they were going to take a walk when he went to leave. I went home at noon to check on her and took a walk with her and she was so excited to see me! She didn't want me to leave either and I heard her crying as I left the back door which brought a tear to my eye. John is going home early this afternoon to be with her and take her to the vet at 3:45. We decided to go to the Brighton-Eggert Animal Clinic since it is very close by and looks to be a nice place. We're a little worried about her itching her underarms and she has started limping on one of her hind legs as well. We suspect this is from her jumping on and off our bed a few times (we now have that door closed!)!!  She truly hates to be without us. I'm sure it is because it is all new to her but I hope that she gets better with it as time goes on. I can keep coming home at lunch for her but if we have to hear her cry everyday I'd rather quit my job!!! John is going to see about taking Bailey to his work but I think she still needs to get used to being alone for a bit. She also hates our gate. We tried to gate her into the kitchen/laundry area again last night to sleep and she cried and cried and cried so we let her have the roam of the house again last night and she choose the couch! What can you do?? Unfortunately, she sees the gate as a punishment and she also cannot be with us if she is behind it so we don't want her to think of it that way.
Thank you for bringing her to us and helping us to adopt her. John and I are going to do everything we can to make her a happy bassett! In just 2 days, we are totally in love with her! She has so much energy and loves to play and take walks which is so perfect for us. She is a sweetheart with a ton of love and I hope we can make her feel safe and secure in our home.
