ABC’s 2009
“There’s No Place Like Home”
Waddle
|
 |
|
June 6th was the 2009 "There's No Place Like Home"
Waddle and it was a huge success! Over 200 people and 220 basset hounds
came to waddle down the yellow brick road of Chittenango. The weather
was perfect, 3 bassets were adopted, several new foster homes came on
board, and we raised thousands and thousands of dollars to continue
helping homeless hounds!
Congratulations to this year’s Royal Court! Congratulations to Princess
Maggie Mae Burlew (a former BHRG basset), Prince Potsie Ross of the
Happy Days Crew from Missouri, Queen Eeyore Gordon and King Barney
Herbert (one of the Arkansas 11 dogs).
Of all the howlers present, best howl went to Duke Gordon! This was his
first waddle ever and first attempt at a game! Congratulations, Duke!
Quite a few hounds were in costume, but the best were Benji the
Scarecrow, Sophie as Dorothy, and Leo as the Yellow Brick Road.
Mary Elliott, our relinquish coordinator, was named “Volunteer of the
Year” and acquired the golden basset statue for the year. Thanks to Mary
for her hard work and dedication!
We had 8 tables of Slobber Shoppe merchandise and record breaking sales
along with over 60 raffle baskets and a dozen silent auction items that
brought in thousands of dollars for ABC. Thanks to everyone who donated
baskets and products!
Our top prize winner for the “Lucky 7” Raffle was Joe Kula. Joe and his
wife, Kathy, have adopted 2 bassets from ABC and bought their winning
ticket at Buffalo’s Breakfast with Bassets last month! Congratulations,
Joe & Kathy!
Foster homes were reunited with their past fosters, tears of joy were
shed when we saw Maggie meeting her new mom for the first time, and
tears of sadness when we watched 15 people whose dogs have passed away
get a paw pin and rainbow bridge print.
ABC would like to thank everyone who attended the waddle, sponsored our
waddlers, donated to the auction, bought shirts and bought & sold raffle
tickets. Without this support, we could not continue our mission of
saving homeless basset hounds.
SAVE THE DATE: June 5th, 2010 “There's No Place Like Home” Waddle in
Chittenango, NY.

Do you have time to “lend a paw” and help make the difference in the lives of New York’s homeless
hounds?
ABC Basset Hound Rescue is
looking for people all across New York State to foster dogs until
they find their forever homes!
The best thing about volunteering is whether you are able to give 10 minutes a month, or 10 hours a month, everything you give either directly or indirectly impacts the life of a hound in need. There is no such thing as giving too much or too little. It’s the fact you are taking the time to give that counts. You can volunteer as much as you want. There are no minimum time requirements/commitments for ABC volunteers. Every little bit helps.
