ABC First Annual Summer Fun Picnic

I would like to share with you all, what a great turn out for ABC's first annual Picnic! If you were there, you know what took place...it was low key, plenty of food, and many, many hounds (and wanna-be's). It was a beautiful day, sunny but not overly hot.... the park was ideal for this event, a lot of tables, a huge grill, and the way it was set back away from the parking lot, in a way, it was like a private party. This event was for the purpose of taking some time out of busy lives and the day to day operations of this organization to spend time with our hounds and to say "Thank You" to everyone that helps out in some way with giving our furry friends new homes. This was not set up to be a fund raiser, but just a few hours of sharing stories, meeting people we email all the time, and giving people a chance to come by and ask about adopting, fostering or any other questions they may have. We had Tom Rodwell on hand to answer any question about adopting and Dawn Martino for information on fostering. I must admit these guys were busy talking with many families!

I had a chance to talk with a lot of folks today about coming on board to help ABC with fostering, possible adopting, home checks and transports. It is really nice to talk with volunteers face to face answer their questions, talk with them about the dog that was adopted through ABC and share their stories and to say thank you to their face. In this busy world of ours sometimes you just need to take the time to stop and smell the roses. We did just that today!

I would to thank all the members on the committee for all the work to put this together...I need to give specials thanks to Terry Larkin for all the mailing and to get the park for this event...unfortunately, Terry and her family could make this picnic, because their daughter was on her way to college. Also to Kristen Wyskida for be the meet & greet person and for making all the hand-out copies for people to take with them.

In closing, I would like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting ABC! Without the volunteers....ABC could do what we do. I would like to share some pictures of today's event.
